Check In means in the event industry the registration of the local crew with the booker.
The booked personnel are ordered to a specific place (venue, hall, field) at a specific time and picked up by the booker. The booker checks a list of names to see if everyone is present and then takes the crew to a usual or agreed meeting point where the crew receives instructions. There is often a handover of crew T-shirts there, especially for larger productions. These are all in different colours so that the different responsibilities can be identified at a glance. The various local crew members can take on a wide range of tasks, such as sound, lighting, rigging, pushing or loading.
