crowd control barriers

crowd control barriersis a colloquial term for a mobile safety barrier. The Drängelgitter cannot be explained exactly as such, since it sometimes even describes two opposing applications.

Mannesmann barriers are often referred to as Drängelgitter. Mannesmann barriers (also known as hamburger, Luxembourg or Manrovia barriers) are waist-high, self-standing crowd control barriers that do not fulfil any particular safety function. These safety barriers can easily be climbed over and are also prone to collapse under heavy foot traffic.

Alternatively, many use the word crowd control barrier as a non-crash stage barrier (crash barriers, gigs, wave breakers). These safety barriers are designed to stop the pressure of the crowd. These so-called wave breakers are used at concerts and prevent accidents in the audience area. In football stadiums, wave breakers are permanently installed in grandstand areas.
