The baby pit / kindergarten is a term used to describe a certain area in front of the stage at a concert event. The term dates from the time when so-called boy groups were fashionable and a large number of young visitors aged between about 6 and 14 went to the concerts.
The baby pit offers a particularly good and unobstructed view of the stage. In addition, the area is protected by crash barriers.
Crash barriers prevent the pressure that visitors exert from behind towards the stage. This pressure can develop great forces and be particularly dangerous, as it arises from the forward urge of the visitors.
To protect children, the baby pit was created between two wavebreakers. It is usually located directly in front of the stage or slightly to the side of the stage.
