DIN EN 1869 is a guideline for permissible fire extinguishing blankets or extinguishing blankets.
Extinguishing blankets according to DIN EN 1869 may be used for grease fires up to three litres in capacity. To meet safety requirements, the extinguishing blanket is made of glass fibre fabric.
The blanket is not reusable and, according to the standard, may only be used by a single person.
To comply with the standard, the blanket must be tested for electrical conductivity. This ensures that the risk of electric shock is reduced if it comes into contact with live electrical equipment.
