Double-sided adhesive tape for bonding carpets
With double-sided carpet tape, carpets and carpet flooring can be bonded temporarily or permanently. All carpet tapes can be used on many smooth and rough surfaces.
The following double-sided carpet tapes from our own brand GRIP Eventbasics are available in our shop:
- Double-sided adhesive tape GT 703 ( width 50 mm x length 25 m): Adhesive tape with robust, adaptable fabric backing, 2 sides with different adhesive strengths (strong and very strong). Suitable for temporary bonding on smooth and uneven surfaces. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
- Double-sided tape extra strong GT 705 (50 mm x 25 m): Extremely strong adhesive cloth tape on both sides, tear-resistant and adaptable to shape. Suitable for permanent bonding indoors and outdoors.
For side edge bonding: Carpet tapes in various colours
For exhibition carpets and runners, we recommend side edge bonding in addition to bonding to the floor. In areas with heavy foot traffic, the edges can quickly become trip hazards, but they can be reliably bonded with single-sided adhesive tape. Choose the installation tape in a colour that matches the carpet so that the side edge bonding is hardly noticeable.

Laying carpet tape
Carpet tape makes laying carpet quick and easy. For optimum adhesion, the surface should be clean and dry.
- First, stick the double-sided adhesive tape firmly to the surface. For small carpet tiles, a runner or narrow carpet strips, sticking it to one side is sufficient. To avoid waves, the carpet tape should also be stuck crosswise on large areas.
- Then remove the foil from the adhesive tape and attach the carpet.
- To fix the side edges, stick the matching adhesive tape over the edges and press down firmly.
We recommend using a universal cutter to cut the carpet tape.
How do I remove carpet tape?
How can carpet tape be removed without leaving any residue? This is a frequently asked question, and the adhesive used on the tape must first be taken into account. Not all adhesives can be removed equally well.
The double-sided carpet tapes from allbuyone are coated with rubber and acrylic adhesive. The residue-free removability of GT 703 varies depending on the surface. GT 705 is permanently adhesive and cannot be removed without leaving residue.
Residues of acrylate adhesive that have hardened properly can be removed with the following solvents:
- Cleaning solvent
- Mixture of 50% xylene and 50% ethyl acetate
- Mixture of 40% cleaning solvent, 40% spirit and 20% acetone
If the adhesive residue is only slightly hardened, the adhesive tape can first be heated with a hair dryer and the residue then removed with a mixture of warm water and detergent.
Residues of rubber adhesive ( ) can be removed with cleaning solvent or Tesa adhesive remover, provided they are still soft. For slightly hardened adhesive, also heat the adhesive tape with a hair dryer and remove any residue with cleaning solvent. Hardened adhesive should first be softened with a universal solution and can then be removed with a scraper.
The ease with which the carpet tape can be removed also depends on the surface. Particular care should be taken on natural materials such as wood and stone. In general, we recommend always testing the carpet tape on a small, inconspicuous area of the original surface to avoid damage.
