The Gaffa Advance Tape AT 175 is designed for versatile, professional use in event supplies. A professional cloth tape with very high adhesive strength (adhesion to steel 5.5 N/cm) and very high initial tack. The adhesive tape features a glossy, poly-coated surface and is therefore abrasion- and water-resistant.
The tape, with its medium-fine fabric structure, offers fairly good hand-tear properties (crosswise and lengthwise), is shape-adaptive (tape thickness: 0.23 mm), and adheres well to both rough and smooth surfaces. It can be removed from most surfaces without residue for up to 48 hours. The Gaffa Advance Tape AT 175 is available in our shop in white, silver, and black, as well as blue, red, yellow, and green. The roll measures 50 mm in width and 50 m in length.
As an alternative to these coloured tapes, we recommend the slightly higher-quality adhesive cloth tape GT 571. The adhesive tape AT 175, made of medium-fine fabric, unrolls easily from the roll, can be torn by hand lengthwise or crosswise, and adapts well to smooth and irregular surfaces. The glossy surface is coated with polyethylene (PE) and offers good abrasion resistance. The cloth tape can be stretched up to 24% and has an impressively high breaking load.

Cloth tape with a glossy surface
The poly-coated Gaffa AT 175 has a glossy surface, which gives it a high abrasion resistance, but can be a disadvantage when used in the studio, on a set or on stage. Incident light from strong lighting is reflected by the glossy fabric and often reduces the quality of the recordings.
For guaranteed reflection-free work, we recommend the extra-matte GT 102, an adhesive tape from our own brand, Grip Tape Eventbasics, or matte adhesive tapes from Advance Tapes (201, 200 ).

What does "corrosive adhesive" mean?
In order for a cloth tape to have a very strong adhesive force, the manufacturer usually uses an aggressive adhesive. This can cause discolouration and structural changes to the surface. If you want to stick gaffa tape to a sensitive surface but still need the strongest adhesive force, we recommend the gaffa tape AT 175 or the duct tape GT 571. Both cloth tapes are equipped with a non-corrosive adhesive.
Instructions for using the adhesive tapes
Never touch the adhesive surface of the Gaffa Tape with your hands. Only stick the cloth tape onto dry, dust-free surfaces and press it firmly onto the surface. The full adhesive strength can only be achieved by optimal pressing, especially with rough surfaces. The optimum application temperature for AT 175 is between +10°C and +45°C.
Store Gaffa AT 175 correctly
The adhesive tape should be stored at normal humidity and temperatures between approx. +12°C and +25°C, preferably in its packaging. Protect the duct tape from temperature fluctuations and direct UV radiation during storage.
Removing cloth tape
Gaffa AT 175 can be removed from most materials without leaving any residue for up to 48 hours. When removing the tape, work slowly and evenly and ideally peel it off at a 90° angle to the surface. However, if any adhesive residue remains, it can often be removed with Tesa adhesive remover, an orange cleaner or petroleum ether.
