According tothe valid RSA 95 A-3.2.4. (Guidelines for securing workplaces on roads), red and white barrier tapes are only suitable as an additional element of visual guidance in urban areas and only for use outside the roadway. The BGV A8 (German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the safety and health at work) also stipulates that barrier tapes that are red and white striped are to be preferred for temporary obstacles and danger spots, while black and yellow striped barrier tapes are to be used for permanent obstacles and danger spots.
