Barrier tapes made of HPDE and LDPE: what is the difference?
This barrier tape is made of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) plastic. Unlike LDPE (low-density PE) tapes, this plastic has a very high density. This enormous density gives the tapes a very high elongation at break (< 500%) and makes them highly resistant to mechanical stress. Even in hot summer temperatures, HDPE products remain highly stable (melting point above 80°C). LDPE, on the other hand, is a hand-tearable plastic that should not be used for marking, fencing off or labelling areas with pedestrian traffic or similar.
