The GT 703 double-sided adhesive tape is a very strong and weakly adhesive tape. The double-sided tape from our GRIP Eventbasics brand impresses with its good quality and affordable price.
double-sided adhesive tape offers a conformable carrier – a fine-mesh, robust plastic fabric – which enables double-sided bonding with different adhesive strengths.
The side covered with yellow siliconised paper is very strong (adhesive strength on steel 7 N/cm) and is designed for laying floor coverings with difficult-to-bond backs and for fastening and mounting. The open side, i.e. the side that is stuck to the substrate, has a weaker adhesive strength (adhesive strength on steel 3.1 N/cm). This adhesive has good re-adhesion properties, holds securely and can be removed from many materials with virtually no residue (approx. 4-5 days with low residue, depending on the substrate).

GT 703 double-sided tape – very strong and with weaker adhesion
The GT 703 double-sided tape from our GRIP Eventbasics brand is a versatile and universally applicable adhesive tape that is often used by our customers for temporarily laying floor coverings (carpet, PVC, etc.), for gluing skirting boards and for attaching decorations. In widths of 19 mm and 38 mm, the tape is ideal as a residue-free removable tape for laying carpets and for light decoration, and in a width of 50 mm, the tape is also suitable for stage coverings and heavier vertical installations.
The double-sided tape has two sides with different adhesive strengths (very strong and weaker) and is coated on both sides with synthetic rubber adhesive. The clearly differentiated adhesive properties, which are created by a plastic fabric carrier, guarantee safe laying and largely good repositionability.
The open side of the double-sided tape, which adheres less strongly to the floor, can be stuck to almost any non-sensitive surface. Thanks to the fabric adhesive carrier, the tape is extremely adaptable and enables a good bond on rough, structured and shaped surfaces. The side covered by a siliconised paper offers a very strong adhesive force and enables, for example, the bonding of difficult-to-bond carpet backs, carpet tiles and other floor coverings as well as the attachment of other materials.
The double-sided tape GT 703 is suitable for indoor use and can also be used for a short time outdoors at trade fairs and events.

Double-sided tape with two sides of different adhesive strengths
The double-sided adhesive tape has two sides with different adhesive strengths, which are clearly separated by the carrier:
- Top: the covered side, which is protected by a siliconised paper, has a very strong adhesive force of 7 N/cm, adheres securely and permanently and is suitable for attaching carpets and floor coverings with difficult-to-bond backs, for example.
- Bottom: the open side, which is glued to the substrate, has a weaker adhesive force of 3.1 N/cm and has a fairly good repositionability on many surfaces.

You can also buy this double-sided tape in our shop as a double-sided tape (GT 704) with a thinner foil as a carrier and a slightly higher adhesive strength (on the closed side). : This double-sided tape is not suitable for gluing to sensitive surfaces, such as natural stone, parquet flooring, wooden floorboards, marble, etc. The double-sided tape could leave discolouration on these surfaces.

Adhesive tape on both sides – information on use
The double-sided tape is suitable for a variety of surfaces, and is particularly good at holding, fixing and mounting difficult, porous and structured surfaces. This is due to the carrier. A fabric per se anchors itself better to the substrate than a double-sided tape with a film carrier.
- The double-sided tape is versatile, for example asan assembly tape, laying tape or for repairs.
- It can be applied particularly well to round and deformed surfaces.
- The mouldable fabric also allows for clean bonding on structured, rough and porous surfaces
- Thanks to its thickness of 0.22 - 0.24 mm, the GT 703 also adheres cleanly to smooth surfaces
- The double-sided tape has particularly good mechanical strength.
GT 703 in three widths: the right size for every application
- 19 mm width: ideal for light decoration, narrow edges of signs, for crafting, repairing and assembling, not suitable for Molton stage coverings, etc.
- 38 mm wide: for gluing individual carpet lengths, e.g. on the catwalk or at trade fairs. The 38 mm wide GT 703 is sufficient for securely gluing the carpet edges, but is unsuitable for heavy fixings (e.g. Molton stage coverings).
- 50 mm wide: If you want to glue several lengths of carpet next to each other, we recommend the 50 mm wide GT 703. This allows the parallel carpet lengths to be glued end-to-end and firmly fixed.
If you are using the double-sided tape as an adhesive tape for PVC flooring or carpet, we recommend working in stages. Please do not touch the adhesive surfaces on either side with your hands and only ever pull off as much tape as you need from the roll. After installation, press the tape on firmly. The higher the contact pressure, the faster and more firmly the tape will stick. This is particularly important to remember when using the adhesive tape as an assembly tape! The recommended processing temperature for the double-sided tape GT 703 is between +5°C and +30°C. If you are using the adhesive tape as a repair tape, please make sure that the surface is free of dust and grease.
But be careful: once applied, the double-sided tape cannot generally be removed from all surfaces without leaving a residue!
Note on bonding double-sided adhesive tapes
We would like to expressly point out that the adhesive performance and removability of any double-sided tape can vary greatly. These properties are directly dependent on:
- the respective materials / surfaces (e.g. plastic, paper, wood, glass, metal, etc.)
- the nature of the surface (rough or smooth surfaces, unevenness)
- temperature (sunlight, underfloor heating, etc.)
- the duration of application
- the type of installation
Please note: Colours may change on epoxy resin-coated floors, varnished parquet floors, marble, untreated wood or natural stone floors.

Notes on storing the tape
Store the double-sided tape in its original packaging until use. The tape should be stored at approx. 20°C and a relative humidity of no more than 65% for a maximum of one year. Protect your stock from moisture and direct sunlight.
