With a light weight of approx. 160g per m², decorative molton weighs only half as much as stage molton. This molton is easy to work with for decorative purposes thanks to its light weight. The matt, roughened decorative molton is available by the metre (from 5 running metres) and as a whole roll with a width of 300cm. It is suitable for:

Please note: When backlit, decorative molton is translucent and not opaque. The lightweight molton fabric also has little sound-absorbing properties and is therefore not suitable for use as a theatre curtain.

Molton B1 flame retardant according to DIN 4102

Decorative molton is flame-retardant impregnated andcertified according to DIN 4102 fire class B1 and EN13773-c1. This makes it a standard in the event sector, as it complies with strict safety regulations and is suitable for use at public events. In addition, all molton from allbuyone complies with classification C-s1, d0 according to DIN EN 13501-1.

The corresponding certificates/classification reports are available from us in two languages (German/English).

Decorative molton is a B1 fabric made from 100% cotton. The fabric is a plain weave fabric that is roughened on both sides, giving it a soft feel and a matt, non-reflective surface. With a grammage of approx. 160g/m², decorative molton is significantly lighter than stage molton. Decorative molton is translucent and has only a slight sound-absorbing effect .

Blackout fabrics, sound-absorbing curtains and acoustic curtains cannot therefore be made from decorative molton!

Decorative molton is an inexpensive molton fabric

Decorative molton is cheaper than stage molton and can be used for flame-retardant decorations in public institutions and at events. Because it is particularly light and has an enormous width of 300 cm, this molton can be attached in a time-saving manner.

Decorative molton colours: more than just black and white

Decorative molton in white is one of the most popular colours. The lightweight molton is available in a total of 11 colours (stock items). Other colours are available on request. For fabric lengths of 500 running metres or more, the stage fabrics can also be ordered in special colours. You can order decorative molton in any colour (according to RAL and Pantone). The grammage of the molton can also be specified individually.

Stage molton in a wide range

In addition to lightweight molton, you can also order stage molton with a fabric weight of 300 g. The heavy molton fabric is a standard in theatres and for lighting, sound and stage technology. Stage molton is less of a decorative fabric and more of a technical fabric with special properties. Often in black to match the equipment on stage.

The 300 g molton is sound-absorbing, opaque and light-absorbing, in black, it is opaque. Stage molton is ideal as a sound-absorbing stage curtain or theatre curtain, as an opaque backdrop (stage background) and non-transparent studio background, as well as a curtain for sound insulation.

Stage molton is also interesting as a background fabric for film and photo studios. The stage fabric absorbs light and does not reflect flashes. It can be used as a background for photography, but also as a blackout fabric in the studio. Incidentally, as stage molton is highly sound-absorbing (sound insulation and sound dampening), it can also be used as an acoustic curtain. Stage molton from allbuyone is also flame-resistant and a must-have for theatre and stage technology.

Decorative molton fabric for stage covering, ceiling and wall covering

A wall covering made from lightweight 160 g molton looks almost identical to a stage molton covering. Both B1 fabrics are matt and non-reflective. Molton is also particularly wide at 300 cm, enabling quick covering. Considering that decorative molton is translucent, there is no reason not to use this inexpensive decorative fabric for coloured coverings. Caution when covering ceilings in exhibition halls! Decorative molton is not a sprinkler-safe fabric.

Curtains and inexpensive photo backdrops for various background systems

Decorative molton can be used to create additional rooms with room dividers, e.g. on a pipe and drape system. What you should bear in mind: a curtain made of decorative molton is see-through and translucent. Strong light sources shine through the fabric. However, targeted backlighting can achieve beautiful effects in a photo studio. As a decorative molton photo background, the fabric can be customised to suit all background systems.

Decorative molton at events: decoration, curtains and cladding

An effective decoration, such as covers, a curtain or a coloured wall covering made of decorative molton, can enhance rooms in no time at all. In tents, halls and other venues, fabric canopies made of decorative molton can create a warm and appealing atmosphere. The fabric is translucent and can be stylishly illuminated from behind. If you want to improve the acoustics in the room, stage molton is the better choice, as this fabric is able to absorb sound. The fabric is 300 cm wide per running metre and can be supplied in high quantities for large fabric requirements, saving time when decorating. Practical: decorative molton can be cut or torn.

Skirtings made from decorative fabric

Buffets and long banquets are often realised with inexpensive rental furniture for catering and trade fairs. Decorative fabrics stylishly cover tables and table legs. The catering industry also uses so-called molton skirtings to create additional storage space under the tables. By the way: in combination with table molton, the table linen appears more voluminous.

Light + decorative molton = magical effects

Covering objects with 160 g decorative molton allows you to use its light transmission as a technical advantage. The translucent cotton fabric is flame-resistant and can therefore be illuminated with stronger light sources. Decorative molton and light can be used to create artistic effects. The 300 cm wide decorative molton is easy to work with and, when backlit, can be used to perfectly showcase almost any shape or size. As an alternative to projection foils, a simple wooden frame can be covered with molton for artistic light installations; the fabric can be attached with staples.

Is decorative molton washable? Care information for decorative molton

Decorative molton can generally be washed, ironed and cleaned, but a few points should be noted. Molton is a flame-retardant, impregnated cotton fabric and not a permanently flame-retardant fabric such as Trevira. Washing decorative molton will remove the flame-retardant impregnation. Long storage times, moisture and heavy mechanical stress also counteract the impregnation. Caution: Molton is susceptible to creasing. After use, the fabric should be stored neatly on a cardboard roll.

Accessories for attaching molton fabrics

Holdon clips, which are simply clipped onto the fabric, are suitable for fastening 160g decorative molton. Alternatively, the molton fabric can also be fixed directly to the wall with gaffa tape, for example. Fabrics with eyelets can also be fastened with bungee cords.
