Dance floor material and properties
A dance floor on roll is one of the most robust and highly resistant floor coverings available. It is dimensionally stable and impresses with its high weight and a firm mineral fleece insert with good smoothness and high dimensional stability. A vinyl (PVC) dance floor is also resistant to chemical and mechanical influences and can be laid indoors and outdoors.
The temporary dance floors are suitable for laying over a sprung floor or dance floor underlay, as well as directly over stage platforms. A silk-matt or matt, non-reflective surface of the dance floor covering creates the best lighting conditions on stage and in the studio.
Every dance floor is flame-retardant and certified according to DIN 4102 fire protection class B1 and EN 13501-1 Cfl-s1. The hard-wearing dance floor can be used several times.

Dance carpets are among the most robust floor coverings; they are highly durable and suitable for temporary use as dance floors, even for tours. Please note: As with many other floor coverings, sharp-edged objects or particularly hard materials that exert high point loads can damage the surface of a dance floor. If you use the dance floor in damp climatic conditions, indoors or outdoors, it may become slippery when wet.
Not all dancing is the same – important information for using a dance floor on roll
Dance carpets often travel around the world on tour; they are easy and inexpensive to handle and transport. Our dance floors on rolls are suitable as mobile dance floors and can be laid on almost any level surface. The dance floors are suitable for many types of dance on show and theatre stages, mainly modern and contemporary dance styles. A mineral fibre reinforcement (glass fibre) incorporated in the centre ensures dimensional stability and increased resistance. A surface embossing provides dancers with the necessary grip and friction, for example when jumping or turning. In combination with a foam backing, a dance carpet with foam backing also offers a little cushioning and the necessary safety, for example for lifting figures. Our dance floors are suitable for dances such as:
- Urban dance, street dance, contemporary, break dance
- Jazz, ballet, hip hop, line dance
- Fitness dance, Zumba, aerobics
- Dance and stage flooring for concerts, shows, theatre, opera, musicals
- as well as for versatile installation on floors and walls at exhibitions, trade fairs and in studios (film, photography, TV), e.g. for chroma keying
Please note: For the safety of professional dancers and to protect their joints, a dance carpet should be laid on a shock-absorbing surface, such as a sprung floor or a sports floor or parquet designed for dancing, which can also be supplied as a mobile solution on request.
Mobile dance floors are only suitable to a limited extent for dance styles with reinforced, studded or riveted shoes, such as those worn for tap dancing and flamenco. These shoes, as well as extremely heavy stage equipment and sharp, hard edges that exert high point loads, cause damage to the wear layer or the foam carrier. We recommend moving scenery and stage equipment on castors. Rubber soles can also leave unsightly marks on the floor. Our mobile dance floors are designed for temporary use and are not suitable for permanent installation and welding in professional dance studios.

Mobile dance floors in comparison
Whether for professional use on stages for events, at trade fairs or exhibitions, or for private use, dance floors are one of the most commonly used floor coverings at events, alongside exhibition carpets. The differences are detailed below.
Single-sided dance floor: CLASSIC and BASIC
The two single-sided dance carpets impress not only with their favourable price-performance ratio but also with their high quality. These floor coverings are very hard-wearing, lie flat thanks to their high weight, are dimensionally stable and, thanks to mineral glass fibre reinforcement, remain dimensionally stable even with temperature fluctuations. No bumps or bubbles. The dance floor, which can be danced on one side, differs in its surface: The BASIC dance floor is very smooth and has a silky matt sheen, while the CLASSIC dance floor has a matt surface with a slight embossing, which is often preferred by dancers and offers a little more grip. A foam backing layer on the reverse side of both dance floors has a slightly dampening effect and contributes to the comfort of various dance styles. The floor coverings weigh around 1.3 kg/m² and are approximately 2 mm thick. The certified flame retardancy of the dance carpets – B1 and Cfl-s1 – makes them perfect for laying at public events.
A roll-out dance floor is highly valued in the event industry as a comfortable stage floor and matt, non-reflective B1 floor for stages at trade fairs, theatres, show and dance stages, as well as wall covering in studios for film, TV and photography. Dance carpets on rolls are very practical on tours, as they can be rolled out, laid and rolled up again quickly and easily on almost any floor. The dance carpet is ideal for use as a protective covering, for example over extremely sensitive floors such as hall floors in gymnasiums or parquet flooring in public buildings.
This floor covering is very popular for private events: a roll of dance floor, for example as a tent floor for weddings or floor covering for dancing and shows at private events, can be used indoors and outdoors. In our shop, you can also buy dance floor by the metre in black and white.
Did you know? A reinforcing mineral fleece insert makes dance floors particularly robust and heavy. It also ensures a smooth surface and dimensional stability. But what is fibreglass? Fibreglass consists of mineral yarns that are actually produced by drawing liquid raw glass. The glass fibres are then processed into an extremely durable material using special looms.
Duo dance floor for laying on both sides
The double-sided dance carpets are equally robust and highly resistant. Industry experts will find a dance floor here that corresponds to the classic Marley Floor in terms of technical data. A practical dance floor that can be danced on both sides and is particularly versatile as a stage covering for touring companies. Each side of the carpet has a different colour, allowing for flexibility when used repeatedly. As a temporary, mobile dance floor, it is particularly suitable for dance, acrobatics and sports. Of course, it is dancers who swear by this dance floor covering. From ballet in pointe shoes to flamenco and tap dancing, a wide variety of dance styles can be performed on this special flooring. This dance floor for temporary installation has a particularly smooth surface that is not quite as sensitive to point loads as comparable mobile dance floors.
No foam backing is used in the manufacture of Marley Floor. For greater resilience and dimensional stability, a mineral reinforcement fleece made of glass fibre is incorporated in the centre.
Marley Floor is a dance floor that is only available in rolls. With a thickness of 1.2 mm and a weight of around 1.5 kg per square metre, the dance floor can withstand even high mechanical loads. Heavier stage loads on castors are often no problem for stage floors without foam backing. Without forming waves or deforming, the mobile dance floor can be rolled out flat and even on the desired surface at any time. Even temperature fluctuations do not affect it; the dimensions remain stable.
Please note: All dance floors ordered from allbuyone are high-quality, temporary dance floor coverings designed for event use. These dance floors are not designed for permanent installation or long-term use in studios. For this purpose, a dance carpet specially designed for sprung floors, a wooden dance floor or a special studio dance floor should be installed.
Laying dance floors: it's easy with a roll of dance carpet

Dance floor cleaning, storage, delivery
Dance floor maintenance is extremely easy, and a mobile dance floor is easy to care for. After laying the floor, the surface should be cleaned frequently with a damp mop and regularly with a pH-neutral cleaning agent. Dust promotes slipping! To prevent stubborn stains, rub the affected area immediately with a soft coconut brush. Scratch marks on the floor can be removed with a dirt eraser or a little cleaning solvent. Use water to remove spilled chemicals from the floor covering. Use suitable floor mats to minimise dust accumulation on the vinyl floor. The floor can be easily rolled up onto the core for reuse.
Dance floor cleaning and storage: Avoid harsh cleaning agents. Creases or other damage can be minimised by always rolling the dance floor back onto the core without creases after use. Store the dance floor in a dry place at room temperature (+15° to +35°C), protected from heat, moisture, steam, vapour and solvents. Dance floors are not stackable! We recommend storing them flat on their roll, individually on a shelf.
Dance floor transport and loading: Caution! The items are heavy and have sensitive edges and surfaces. Do not tip or pull the rolls over loading edges. Do not place the roll at an angle on edges. Individual rolls should only be transported upright with a sack truck. Transport horizontally, only with a forklift truck and spike or by hand by at least two people! Complaints due to incorrect transport or improper storage will not be accepted.
Delivery of dance floors: Please check the condition of the goods immediately upon delivery of the dance floor. Only sign the delivery note for these items if the goods have been delivered undamaged. Any defects must be documented and noted upon receipt of the goods. Transport insurance only applies if damage is documented immediately.
Please note: Some dance floors have a strong odour that may be unpleasant. Perhaps you could plan to ventilate the room sufficiently before the event begins?
