What is a backdrop? – Background for photo studios, theatres and stages
On large stages, the stage backdrop plays an important role in the scenery. It is important that the backdrop does not reflect incoming light, and sound-absorbing properties are also advantageous. At allbuyone, you can buy a backdrop made of heavy stage molton. This cotton fabric is sound- and light-absorbing. Backdrops are used as backgrounds in theatres and on stages as well as in photo studios. The colour black is particularly popular. Due to the B1 certification according to DIN 4102 of all molton fabrics available from us, the backdrop can be used without any problems as stage equipment and studio supplies indoors. The backdrop is available ready-made in 6 popular standard sizes, as roll goods for cutting to size yourself or individually tailored to fit your backdrop system.

A backdrop made of 300 g/m² heavy stage molton has a roughened surface on both sides. This ensures that the molton fabric absorbs incident light and sound excellently and can be used for photo backgrounds without negatively affecting the quality of portrait or product photos. Molton is certified as a flame-retardant fabric (B1), making it suitable for stage construction and indoor studio equipment. Thanks to its opaque material, stage molton also serves as a reliable privacy screen for backstage areas.

Pre-made backdrop as stage background
We can supply your backdrop as a pre-made individual piece in standardised formats that are measured for different stage sizes. We can supply the backdrop for your stage equipment in the following standard formats:

Customised background made to measure
For creative stage design, allbuyone can supply stage fabric and photo background fabric made to your specifications. Not every music stage or theatre stage has standard dimensions – simply specify the desired format of your backdrop yourself!
You can also order the backdrop in ten other colours if black does not suit your theatre equipment.
In addition to the standard finish with an eyelet-lined top edge with reinforced inner webbing, fixed selvedges or hemmed edges, you can select further finishing options in our configurator:
Backdrop with ruffle tape: When finished with ruffle tape, the backdrop can be ruffled as desired using a drawstring. The stage molton can then be attached to a curtain rail by hooking hooks into the sewn-in loop tape.
Backdrop with Velcro tape: Velcro tape allows you to attach a printed backdrop or advertising banner to the molton background and attach it flexibly to various surfaces. The Velcro tape is sewn to the upper edge of the backdrop, while the fleece tape is attached to the printed advertising banner or a wall. All you need is a molton backdrop as a stage background; the printed banners can be easily exchanged as required!
B1 backdrop with eyelets all around: This type of finishing is particularly suitable if you want to tighten the backdrop all around using bungee cords or cable ties.
B1 backdrop with hemstitching: A pole or cord can be inserted through the hemstitching at the top edge for hanging.
B1 backdrop with tie bands: Tie bands are attached to the fabric at intervals of approx. 30 cm, which can be tied to the backdrop system, such as trusses or poles.

Other uses for fabric backdrops
Instead of a fixed press wall, which is usually printed with sponsor logos, a matt, unprinted background fabric is also suitable as an interview backdrop and photo wall.
Backdrop printed with your advertising or band logo
If, instead of a black or single-colour backdrop made of stage molton, you would prefer a custom-printed stage backdrop, we can print a lightweight advertising net in flame-retardant B1 quality for you. The backdrop is usually fitted with a practical Velcro tape. All you need is a molton background to which the Velcro tape is sewn, and you can exchange the advertising and band banners attached with Velcro tape as you wish!
Proper care of stage molton
Backdrops made of 100% cotton are generally easy to care for, but the flame retardant properties of the photo background fabric are lost after machine washing and heavy mechanical stress, as well as damp and prolonged storage. To avoid damage caused by washing and ironing molton, please read the Molton Care information sheet.
Tip: You can renew the flame retardant with the flame retardant Bioretard.
