Floor coverings PVC flame retardant
PVC floor coverings are versatile and popular in the event industry as robust floor coverings for trade fairs and events. PVC flooring is easy to clean, hard-wearing and, thanks to its fire behaviour, can also be used for public events: The exhibition flooring is Cfl-s1-certified according to EN 13501 and B1-certified according to DIN 4102.
What is PVC flooring?
PVC floors are elastic floor coverings made of polyvinyl chloride. The addition of plasticisers makes the otherwise hard PVC soft and elastic. Other additives are also added to the floor covering to make it lightfast and weather-resistant, among other things.
Alongside linoleum, PVC floor coverings are among the oldest elastic floor coverings. They have been manufactured since the beginning of the 20th century. Today, PVC flooring – also known as vinyl flooring – is available in tiles, strips or rolls. In the event industry, it is one of the most popular floor coverings alongside rip carpet.
The terms vinyl flooring and PVC flooring can be used interchangeably; they refer to the same type of flooring.
Floor covering – information about the material
PVC floor coverings are made of polyvinyl chloride (vinyl for short). They are available in different designs, with and without a backing layer, foamed or rolled, and consisting of one or more layers.
At allbuyone, you can buy so-called CV floor coverings ( ), which are also frequently used in living areas in a similar form. These are foamed PVC floors with a structured surface.
These PVC floor coverings consist of two layers:
- Top side: hard PVC, slightly textured
- Back: foam backing layer
A PVC floor with a slip-resistant surface is also available. The surface is PU-coated and textured and classified as R11 (slip resistance) according to BGR 181.

PVC floor covering is considered water-resistant and easy to clean. It is characterised by its good durability and can withstand heavy use. The flooring is also inexpensive and easy to install. Its most important properties include:
- very good abrasion resistance
- waterproof
- antistatic

- Slip-resistant, classified according to BGR 181 as R11 (only PVC floor Unigrip!)
The PVC flooring is resistant to mechanical and chemical influences, but is sensitive to aggressive solvents and high temperatures. Caution should also be exercised with tar!
PVC flooring is flame-resistant
All PVC floor coverings from allbuyone are flame retardant and comply with building material class Cfl-s1 according to European standard EN 13501-1, or building material class B1 according to DIN 4102, which is still valid in Germany.
Further information on fire-retardant floor coverings can be found in the information sheet on fire protection classes DIN 4102-B1 and EN 13401-1.
Although the exhibition flooring is flame-retardant, it is still combustible. Therefore, caution should be exercised with candles, cigarette embers, fireworks, pyrotechnic stage effects, etc.!

Application of PVC floor covering: Trade fairs and events
This elastic floor covering is used in many ways in the event industry. High safety standards regarding fire protection, which apply to public events and trade fairs, are met thanks to the B1 and Cfl-s1 certificates. Due to the thin, slightly springy foam carrier layer, the PVC floor coverings are pleasant to walk on.
The flame-retardant PVC flooring is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation. Areas of application include use as exhibition floor, tent floor and stage floor. Further areas of application are:
- Hall protection flooring
- Catwalk flooring
- Floor covering for containers, e.g. during production (office, make-up, control room, sanitary area, etc.)
The R11-classified slip-resistant PVC flooring Unigrip is also ideal as:
- Floor covering in catering areas
- Slip-resistant flooring in sanitary facilities
- PVC flooring in kitchen tents
What do you need to lay PVC flooring?
As exhibition flooring, PVC is only laid temporarily for the duration of the event. It is then disposed of.
To lay the flooring, you first need a cutter knife to cut the floor covering to the desired shape. It is then fixed to the subfloor with double-sided adhesive tape . Once the flooring has been laid, the edges can be taped down with a special cloth tape in a matching colour.
How can PVC floors be cleaned?
PVC flooring is one of the easiest floor coverings to maintain. Dust and light dirt can be removed with water and standard household cleaners.
Caution: Strongly coloured disinfectants can discolour PVC and must be removed immediately after contact.
