Are there standard sizes for hoist flags?
In Germany and the EU, there are common standard sizes for hoist flags, including 80 x 200 cm, 100 x 300 cm, 120 x 300 cm ( ) and 150 x 400 cm ( ) (for portrait format); landscape format: 120 x 80 cm, 150 x 100 cm, 180 x 120 cm, 200 x 120 cm, 250 x 150 cm (for landscape format).

In addition to various sizes, you can choose from different types of finishing.
The landscape format flag is sewn on three sides with a double safety seam. On the flagpole side (short side), the flag has either eyelets or plastic snap hooks at intervals of 40 cm for attachment to the flagpole. The flagpole side is reinforced with a webbing strap.
The two vertical flags are also available with either eyelets or snap hooks on the mast side (spaced 100 cm apart). In addition, the upper edge can be finished with either a simple double seam or a hemstitch for flagpoles with a finial.

What to do when there is no wind? Play it safe with a boom flag! Boom flags have a hemstitch at the top, suitable for a pole with a boom up to 4 cm in diameter. This ensures that your flag is always clearly visible, even when there is only a slight breeze.

We print the hoist flags in standard sizes on flag fabric (100% polyester). This material is specially designed for the demands of flags and has the following characteristics:

How long does a hoist flag last?
Flag fabric is a lightweight yet very stable, high-quality material. However, there are significant variations in the information provided by manufacturers regarding UV and weather resistance. Many printers specify a blanket period of 3 years. This is true if the fabric is used exclusively indoors. However, flags are usually used outdoors, in sun, wind and rain and often at lofty heights of up to 10 metres. In this case, 3 years is definitely not accurate. Weather and mechanical impact from strong winds can lead to material wear.
We therefore find it difficult to give a blanket statement. To be on the safe side, we therefore specify 0.5–2 years of UV resistance and weather resistance!
We print hoist flags in high colour intensity and high resolution.
Flag fabric with its smooth, textile surface is very easy to print on. Another advantage is that fabrics are generally very absorbent and take up the printing ink well. We print the hoist flags using thermal sublimation printing (digital printing), whereby the ink is printed onto the fabric and then vaporised under heat. This process results in a colour-intensive, extremely durable print image with perfect print-through (60%).
Hoist flags with double-sided printing – is that possible?
Flag fabric can only be printed on one side. The lightweight, permeable material has a print-through of 60%, which means that the print image is also visible on the reverse side (mirror-inverted). Printing on both sides would therefore result in the print image being printed twice. Thanks to the 60% print-through, your motif isclearly visible on both sides, with only slightly weaker colours on the reverse side.

Ordering printed hoist flags is quick and easy. We have created a data sheet for print data creation, which contains all the information you need about the required print data and the ordering process. You can order hoist flags in standard sizes as follows:
- Add the desired product to your shopping cart and complete the order.
- After successful purchase, you will receive an order confirmation and a link to our data sheet, which contains important information regarding the layout and transmission of the print data.
- You will then receive a second email with an order confirmation and a personalised link for uploading your print data.
- The order confirmation also contains the expected delivery date.

Note on print data checking: If you have booked our basic print data check, we will automatically make minor corrections for you. If the resolution or similar is incorrect, we will actively contact you.
If you have not booked the print data check, we cannot guarantee the output quality of your prints.
Optionally, you can book our personal Premium Graphics Service. This is charged separately according to time and effort (€44.50 per half hour or part thereof). Please leave us a short note in the order comments at the end of your order. - Your custom-printed product will be shipped to you after production.

Which (flag) size for which flagpole?
There is no rule of thumb for which flag size is right for which flagpole. The most important thing is to choose the right format (portrait/landscape). In principle, of course, the larger the flagpole, the larger the flag can be. For portrait format, we recommend that the flagpole should be approximately twice as high as the flag. The portrait format flag with a length of 300 cm is therefore suitable for flagpoles with a height of 6 m and above.
Washing hoist flags – care information
Hoist flags made of flag fabric are easy to care for and washable at 30°C on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Regular care is particularly advisable for light-coloured flags that are hoisted in places with high air pollution (busy roads, etc.).
After washing, you can iron the flag at a low temperature. However, please bear in mind that washing and ironing can cause the material to lose its flame retardancy. Only by re-impregnating the flag with flame retardants – we recommend Florimp K Verde – will the hoist flag be B1 flame retardant again.
