Red and white adhesive tapes for temporary marking of hazardous areas
Paragraph 12 BGV A8 (formerly VBG 125) regulates the application of colour markings.
According to this, temporary hazards should be marked with red and white adhesive tape and permanent obstacles or hazards should be marked with black and yellow adhesive tape.
According to RSA 95 A-3.2.4 (guidelines for securing work sites on roads), red and white warning tape may only be used at work sites within built-up areas and only as an additional element of visual guidance; it must not be applied to roadways.

- Sound and stage technicians use the marking tape to secure individual cables or to indicate the ends of laid cable mats.
Using PVC warning tape safely
Stick the warning tape to a dust-free surface and do not touch the adhesive surface with your fingers. Press the warning tape firmly into place immediately after application. The adhesive tape sticks best at temperatures between approx. +18°C and +22°C. The warning tapes can be unrolled quietly.
Storage of adhesive tape
To ensure that the marking tape retains its optimum quality and r, certain storage conditions must be observed:
- Leave warning tape in its packaging until use
- Do not store marking tape for longer than 12 months
- The storage temperature should be approx. 20°C
- Protect duct tape from direct sunlight
Tip: Test the marking tape before use
A tape with strong adhesive can cause discolouration, especially on sensitive surfaces. Test the adhesive tape in advance on an inconspicuous area. We generally advise against applying warning tape to natural stone or untreated wood.
