Use of hook and loop tape and fleece tape
The hook and loop tape has proven itself in theatre, film and set construction. It sticks to many surfaces such as wood, metal and glass and also impresses with its high temperature resistance. This makes it extremely versatile, for example for scenery coverings, photo backdrops, exhibition walls, soffits and truss covers. The tapes offer an uncomplicated fastening option, especially for molton, velour and other textiles without eyelets and loops.
Thanks to their particularly high quality, the hook and loop tapes retain their strong fastening power even after repeated opening and closing.
Please note that you should sew the Velcro or hook-and-loop tape onto fabrics and decorative materials that are subject to mechanical stress!
Tips for the optimal use of hook and loop tape
The self-adhesive fleece tape guarantees easy processing. However, please note the following when applying fleece and hook tape:
- To achieve a reliable closure, apply sufficient pressure to both the hook and loop tape components when closing.
- Self-adhesive fleece tape is acid-resistant and resistant to alkaline chemicals. For a reliable hold, the surface to which it is applied should be free of grease, oil, moisture, dust or plasticisers.
Note: Self-adhesive fleece tape is not suitable for bonding to surfaces containing plasticisers or plasticiser components (especially oligomers). The adhesive on the back of the fleece and hook-and-loop tapes may flow out due to chemical reactions.
Removing self-adhesive fleece tape correctly
It is best to remove hook and loop tape, velour tape, etc. slowly and piece by piece rather than pulling it off abruptly. If adhesive residue remains on the surface after careful removal of the tape, we recommend cleaning with our adhesive remover from Tesa.
Always check the compatibility of the material in advance by testing it on a small area!
Storage of hook and loop tape sold by the metre
Store the removable hook and loop tape in a well-ventilated, dark and dry room at room temperature (20°C) to ensure that the strong adhesive force is retained for a particularly long time.
