Sprinklermesh: permeable fabric
Sprinkler fabrics are sprinkler-compatible nets that are used as ceiling suspensions in stage and exhibition construction. A sprinkler net can be made of various materials, but it is important that the net is flame-retardant B1 in accordance with DIN 4102. VdS-certified sprinkler nets are also mandatory at many trade fairs. At allbuyone, sprinklermesh is available in rolls or made to order.
Technical requirements for sprinkler nets in exhibition stand construction
As with any public event, certain regulations apply to the materials used at trade fairs. Requirements for sprinklermesh can be found in particular in the technical guidelines of the respective trade fair, which are usually issued by the respective trade fair management.
For example, Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH stipulates the following for stand roofing:
"In order not to impair the sprinkler protection, stands in sprinklered halls must always be open at the top. Ceilings are considered open if no more than 50% of the area per square metre is closed. Sprinkler-compatible ceilings with a mesh size of at least 2 x 4 mm or 3 x 3 mm are permitted for areas up to 30 m². (...) The tarpaulin must be tensioned horizontally and in a single layer only. Sagging of the tarpaulin must be avoided (...). Sprinkler-compatible ceilings must be installed in the lower third of the total distance from the hall sprinkler (hall ceiling) to the floor."

Messe Frankfurt additionally stipulates:
"The effectiveness of the sprinkler system (in the exhibition hall) must not be impaired by covered or multi-storey exhibition stands. Ceilings are to be considered open if
- if no more than 50% of the area per square metre is closed
- if sprinkler-compatible materials with a minimum mesh size of 2 x 4 mm or 3 x 3 mm are used (no smoke out). The tarpaulin must be stretched horizontally and must consist of a single layer."

The technical guidelines of Messe München GmbH also contain requirements for sprinkler nets:
"Stand covers must be at least flame-retardant (in accordance with DIN 4102 or DIN EN 13501-1) (the test certificate must be presented or kept at the stand) and must be equipped with a sprinkler system if they cover a continuous area of more than 30 m². (...) The sprinkler system for stand coverings larger than 30 m² may be waived under the following conditions and with the approval of the Munich Fire Department:

- Textile ceiling coverings: The covering must be approved by VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH for horizontal installation below sprinkler levels (wide-mesh grid or fabric with woven-in melt thread). The written approval of VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH must be submitted to Messe München GmbH, Technical Exhibitor Service Department; the installation instructions of VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH must be observed."

Which sprinkler fabric can be ordered from allbuyone?

Sprinkler net roll – 500 cm wide
This sprinkler net is also coarse-meshed and particularly elastic. It is sprinkler-compatible and VdS-tested, as well as B1 flame-retardant. The sprinkler fabric is made of Trevira CS and is also available in white as a roll with a length of 60 running metres. The width here is 5 m.
Sprinkler net 3 x 50 m
The second sprinkler fabric from allbuyone is a coarse-mesh fabric made of polyethylene (mesh). This net is not VdS-certified, but has the B1 certificate and is flame-retardant. The sprinklermesh is available in a size of 3 x 50 m or, on request, can also be made to measure.
Typical applications for sprinkler mesh
Sprinkler mesh in exhibition stand construction: As the name sprinkler net suggests, its main application is for use as a ceiling suspension. In exhibition and trade fair construction, sprinkler mesh is used under sprinkler systems as a ceiling covering. In this application, the sprinkler net serves primarily as decoration.
Sprinkler net in stage construction: On stages, the permeable fabric is also used as a ceiling covering under sprinkler systems. Another area of application, especially for the permeable polyethylene mesh, is the covering of stages, grandstands and FOH; stagenet is wind-permeable and therefore also suitable for use in particularly exposed areas.
Good to know: Both sprinkler fabrics are not only water-permeable, but also allow light and sound to pass through thanks to their coarse mesh. This means that the fabric does not cover loudspeakers or lighting when used as a ceiling covering.
