PP rope – robust braided rope made of polypropylene
A polypropylene rope is a universal plastic rope that is suitable for numerous applications. Polypropylene ropes are available in both twisted and braided versions, which is why the rope is also referred to as braided cord or braided rope. PP ropes from allbuyone have medium tensile strength, good abrasion resistance and are buoyant. The PP rope is available in black in our shop with a length of 300 m on a spool.
PP rope should not be confused with expander rope and cord!
Expander rope, cord and PP braided cord – what is the difference?
The lightweight PP cord is not stretchable. In contrast, an expander rope is an elastic rubber rope that is used, for example, for tensioning when securing loads. The PP rope is not suitable for securing people or as a climbing rope. A cord is used for this purpose. This is a thin static rope that is certified according to DIN standard EN 654 and is used for hiking, climbing or as part of personal protective equipment.
Polypropylene rope – product details
The rope consists of a polypropylene core encased in a 16-strand braided sheath. You can order the PP rope in black from allbuyone with a diameter of 5 mm and a rope length of 300 running metres.
This high-quality product offers a wide range of outstanding material properties:
- High abrasion resistance
The polypropylene rope is abrasion-resistant, tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant. Plastic ropes are very durable under heavy use and do not show any fibre or colour abrasion even under heavy friction. - Waterproof and buoyant
The PP rope is water-resistant. Polypropylene is a material that is waterproof and buoyant. The cord does not absorb water, so there is no swelling or shrinkage. Due to its low weight, the rope remains on the surface of the water and can also be used as a swimming line. - Rot-proof and light-resistant
The PP rope is rot-proof and weather-resistant. Polypropylene ropes are ideal for outdoor use: the material has good light resistance (UV resistance) and heat resistance, with a softening temperature of approx. 140°C. - Good knot strength
PP rope is a stable fastening cord. With a knot strength of 55-65%, the rope can also withstand high loads. Unlike polyamide ropes and polyethylene cords, braided rope has medium strength. Braided rope can not only be knotted, but also wound and tied. - Resistance to petrol, acids and oil
Braided ropes are also ideal for industrial use, as they are resistant to alkalis, acids, petrol and lubricating oil.
What are polypropylene ropes used for?
The PP rope is an important tool both indoors and outdoors. In the event industry, it is not only used for tying and fastening during stage construction or for packing and transporting event equipment and in warehouses. The robust plastic rope also serves as an inexpensive assembly rope for banners or view protection tarps and for tensioning tents.
In addition, the PP rope can be used in a wide variety of areas as a multifunctional all-purpose rope: as a mobile clothesline on tour and when travelling, and as a general fastening cord.
