Nettle fabric is an inexpensive and robust stage fabric with a matt, plain-woven surface. Here is an overview of the properties of nettle fabric:
For use as stage fabric, the nettle fabric is impregnated to be flame retardant and is B1-certified according to DIN 4102. In addition, cotton nettle from allbuyone is certified as C-s1, d0 according to DIN EN 13501-1, which applies to the product for use in decoration, curtains, stage decoration and blackout applications. This means that nettle fabric meets the strict fire safety requirements that apply at many events.
Please note: Like other fire-certified cotton fabrics, nettle fabric loses its B1 impregnation when washed.
You can order standard nettle fabric in our shop in 200 g/m² in the following version:
Good to know: Cotton nettle has a natural base colour. The fabric is dyed (e.g. black) or bleached as required. The cotton is bleached to make the nettle fabric white.
We always have standard nettle fabric with 200 g/m² in stock and ready for dispatch. Other frequently used nettle fabrics are veil nettle, a thin, transparent fabric (approx. 90 g/m²), and heavy, light- and opaque nettle (approx. 400 g/m²), which is used as a horizon fabric, canvas and backdrop. These nettle fabrics are available from allbuyone on request, as are nettle fabrics in other sizes up to a width of 12 m – please contact us personally for more information!
In 200 g/m² quality, the nettle fabric is translucent and is often used as shirting fabric. The bleached white cotton fabric is also suitable for:
Note: Painting causes the nettle fabric to lose its B1 certification. Depending on the paint used, it may also react with the fire protection impregnation. Therefore, please test the paint on a small area of the nettle fabric beforehand. On request, you can also obtain nettle fabric without B1 certification, which is ideal for painting.
Cotton nettle is impregnated to be flame-resistant and is not a permanently flame-resistant fabric. Washing, ironing, moisture and heavy mechanical stress can cause the flame-retardant impregnation of the cotton fabrics to be lost. Flame retardants can be used to re-impregnate nettle fabric to make it flame retardant, but the fabric will only comply with DIN 4102 if the impregnation is applied correctly.
Nettle fabrics also tend to crease and should always be stored rolled up flat.
