Buy safety vests – large selection, low prices
A safety vest, also known as a signal vest or breakdown vest, significantly improves the visibility of the wearer, thereby helping to prevent accidents. This applies to special activities in the event industry and when leaving a vehicle in the event of a breakdown (safety vests are mandatory for cars, trucks and other vehicles).
Caution! Not every safety vest complies with the applicable occupational safety or traffic regulations! If you have to comply with a specific safety vest requirement, then safety vests in accordance with EN ISO 20471 (corresponds to class 2) are usually a good choice.
Order from a wide range of safety vests
The allbuyone shop offers you a large selection of different vests. Here you will find standardised safety vests in yellow and orange in accordance with safety vest requirements, specially cut women's safety vests, breathable mesh safety vests and simple identification, signal and safety vests in up to 8 other bright colours – with or without reflective strips. Many vests are also available with customised imprints.
Below you will find an overview of all available vests: first those certified according to EN ISO 20471 (formerly DIN 471), and in the box below are all other signal vests that do not comply with the high-visibility vest requirement:
Safety vests EN ISO 20471: 2013 certified in accordance with mandatory wearing/carrying requirements in yellow and orange

- Printed safety vest – unisex, size: one size (approx. XXL), colour: yellow or orange, customised print*

We print safety vests with logos or lettering
In addition to single-colour signal vests and safety vests, allbuyone also sells custom-printed safety vests, which are often used for advertising or to identify specialised personnel (security safety vests, press safety vests, etc.). Printing is available on one or both sides, with one to four colours as standard. You can also have standardised safety vests printed. The signal vest in yellow and orange complies with DIN EN ISO 20471, provided that the print does not exceed a certain size (!).
The following safety vests with imprint are available in our standard range:
- Safety vest with reflective strips – Unisex, size: one size (approx. XXL), colour: 8 colours (does not comply with high-visibility vest requirements!)
- Safety vest DIN EN ISO 20471 printed – unisex, size: one size (approx. XXL), colour: yellow or orange (complies with safety vest requirements for private and commercial use)
Would you like to have a different vest printed? Please contact us for personal advice or send us a written enquiry – we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Air-permeable safety vests: Safety vest made of mesh
For use during physical work on hot days, for example during open-air productions in summer, we recommend the mesh safety vest – a breathable vest weighing only 50 g per m² (not EN 471 and ISO 20471 compliant!) or the breathable cotton safety vest with a natural fibre content of 20%.
Difference between safety vests, breakdown vests and identification vests – which vest fulfils the requirements?
Not all safety vests meet the requirements for mandatory wearing or carrying. Special features apply to signal vests that are required for commercial or private use in road traffic and as high-visibility clothing for occupational safety during special activities in the event industry. This is because the wearer must be visible at all times in all visibility conditions thanks to reflective material (bright, reflective colour and reflective strips). This applies in daylight, in cloudy weather, in poor lighting conditions, at dusk and also in darkness at night.
What distinguishes a safety vest " " according to DIN EN ISO 20471:2013 (formerly DIN 471)?
The safety vests that you can order from our shop in yellow and orange comply with current regulations. EN ISO 20471 (formerly DIN 471) "High-visibility warning clothing - Test methods and requirements" specifies the following characteristics:
- A minimum area of fluorescent background material (daylight colour at least 0.5 m²)
- 360° visibility thanks to reflectors running around the torso (0.13 m² retro-reflective strips, approx. 5 cm wide)
- The safety vest must at least comply with Class 2.
According to the German Social Accident Prevention Institution for the transport industry (BG Verkehr), DGUV Regulation 70 (previously BGV D29) and StVZO § 53a Paragraph 2 red, orange and yellow safety vests in accordance with the currently valid DIN EN ISO 20471:2013 as clothing for occupational safety (PPE) and as vests in accordance with the safety vest requirement for vehicles in traffic. Standardised safety vests can always be recognised by their label. In addition to other information, the pictogram of the applicable standard must also be indicated on the label.
This pictogram is easy to recognise: it shows a safety vest with horizontal and vertical stripes. The warning class is indicated as a number next to the pictogram.
Class 3 safety vests are no longer available
The highest protection class for safety vests is class 2. However, some activities require class 3 high-visibility clothing for occupational safety. According to the new standard, the torso and arms or legs must be covered. This means that safety vests or high-visibility trousers can no longer be certified individually as class 3.
Can a safety vest continue to be worn in accordance with DIN 471?
Yes – as far as the requirement for high-visibility vests in cars and other vehicles in traffic (in the event of an accident or breakdown) is concerned, both standards apply in parallel. The vest may also continue to be worn and sold for commercial purposes. However, new collections must be certified in accordance with ISO 20471. Since 2010, the validity of old certificates has been limited to five years. After that, the clothing must be recertified based on the currently applicable standard. However, the service life of clothing that has already been purchased is unlimited.
High-visibility vest requirement (must be carried in the car) valid in Germany since 1 July 2014
Commercially used vehicles have long been required to carry and wear safety vests. This requirement applies to drivers and (regular) passengers. Since 1 July 2014, safety vests have also been mandatory for private individuals. For cars, trucks and buses, the requirement to carry a vest in the vehicle applies. The vest must be presented during an inspection, and a fine may be imposed for non-compliance. Incidentally, the legislator has waived the requirement to wear a vest in the private sphere, appealing to personal responsibility in the event of accidents and breakdowns.
Safety vests on motorcycles: not mandatory in Germany
Motorcyclists are exempt from the requirement to carry a vest. Motorhomes are also not covered by the new law.
Different countries, different customs: safety vests abroad
What applies in Germany regarding safety vests does not automatically apply in every other country. Please refer to the information sheet on safety vest requirements abroad to find out whether a safety vest is mandatory abroad and whether it is mandatory to carry or wear one, whether the requirement applies to car drivers alone or also to motorcyclists or even cyclists. Alternatively, the ADAC and Dekra websites also offer interesting information.
Caring for and storing your safety vest
There are a few things to keep in mind when caring for a safety vest and other high-visibility clothing. The fluorescent and reflective material of the vest is sensitive to UV light. Therefore, never expose high-visibility clothing to direct sunlight for long periods of time. This has a highly negative effect on the signal effect and reflectivity of the reflectors as well as the fluorescence of the daytime fluorescent colour. Furthermore, you should always keep a safety vest handy in the glove compartment of your car or other vehicle.
Care instructions for vests
- Protect your safety vests from direct UV light when storing them.
- Do not tumble dry safety vests.
- Bleaching, dry cleaning and ironing will impair the reflective properties.
- Follow the washing instructions on the label.
- If the reflectors or the rest of the vest are particularly dirty, we recommend replacing the high-visibility clothing for your own safety.
