Since the beginning of 2015, only first aid kits that comply with the new DIN standard may be sold. Old first aid kits may still be used as long as the expiry date has not been reached. According to § 35h paragraph 4 StVZO, a first aid kit that adequately fulfils the purpose of providing first aid is sufficient. Once the expiry date has been reached, the expired items must be replaced. Once expired, the guarantee of sterility of a dressing, for example, expires. Disposable gloves can become brittle and tear. Tip: Check the expiry date of quick-release bandages, wet wipes, etc. regularly and do not use the products after the best-before date has expired.
