Tensioning rubber with spiral hook vs. expander loops with plastic hook
Our customers often ask us how the tensioning loops differ from one another. The difference lies in the attachment.
Both bungee loops are suitable for use as fastening rubber. For example, for tarpaulins, advertising banners or similar, they are only attached differently. The bungee cords with plastic hooks must be formed into a loop and attached to themselves. This means that the hook is attached to the rubber band, and an integrated retaining function in the hook prevents the rubber band from slipping.
In contrast, the bungee cord with metal hook offers direct attachment and does not have to be connected to itself: the spiral hook is larger and more open, it can be attached directly to eyelets, rods, pipes, etc. In wind and stormy conditions, such bungee cords often offer a higher tensile load and are able to securely fasten large and heavy tarpaulins.
: Due to their flexible expander ropes, elasticated straps offer advantages in wind and weather over rigid fastening elements such as cable ties, lashing straps and the like. An expander rubber is stretchable, which means that wind forces can be absorbed – and eyelets are thus protected from being torn out.
Note:. When loosening the bungee cords, always make sure that the rubber is no longer under tension. To prevent injuries, the maximum elasticity of the tensioners should not be exceeded. In addition, bungee cords should not be used by children without supervision.
