The Adam Hall Defender XXL cable protector is the right choice if you are looking for cable protectors with optimum protection and high load capacity. The Defender XXL are reliable heavy-duty bridges for continuous use. The load capacity of 5 t ( on an area of 20 x 20 cm) and the 5 large cable channels (channel 1 and 5: 6 .1 x 5.9 cm; channel 2 and 4: 6.2 x 6.5 cm and channel 3: 6.0 x 6.3 cm) ensure a wide range of applications. Not only high-voltage cables, but also thick hoses (e.g. 3 C hoses used by the fire brigade) can be safely routed thanks to the ample space available.

The Defender XXL is 70 cm long, 69.6 cm wide and 8.7 cm high. With a weight of approx. 21 kg and a non-slip underside, the cable protector lies securely on the floor and does not need to be further secured. The virtually indestructible material ( TPU and PE) has a hardness rating of 88 Shore ± 4. The cable protector is resistant to oil, petrol and acid, making it highly resistant to chemicals. The cable protector is classified as flame retardant class B2. Also available in B1 version (flame retardant) on request. The product is manufactured in Germany and is free of plasticisers.

The Defender XXL has been designed with integrated carrying handles to make installation of the cable protectors easier. A patented, self-cleaning hinge is another feature of the Defender cable protectors. The non-slip ribbed surface provides optimum grip for vehicles and pedestrians . The yellow cover, in combination with the black housing, provides a high-visibility warning effect even from a distance . This high-quality product is TÜV SÜD certified.

Assembly of the Adam Hall Defender XXL cable protector

The tongue and groove locking system with connecting pins ensures quick and easy assembly. It joins the elements vertically and ensures that they do not separate due to lateral forces. Any number of cable protectors can be connected to each other at the connecting pins.

To assemble, first place one element on a level surface. Press the female end of the next element onto the connecting pins of the cable protector already in place. Repeat this process until you have reached the desired length of the cable protector.

You can then open the flexible cover at the recess on the opposite side of the hinges. The cables can now be stowed in the cable protectors. Once the cables have been laid in the ducts, the covers can be pressed shut again.

Make sure that the cable protector has been connected to form a closed line and that the elements are flush. The cover must snap firmly into the base so that the trip protection does not become a trip hazard. Please also ensure that the individual components are at the same height and that there are no major uneven areas between the individual ducts. This is the only way to ensure that the connectors engage properly and guarantee full load capacity. The Defender XXL is not suitable for bridging shafts, trenches or other depressions. Do not support platforms, crossbars, scaffolding or similar structures on the cable protector.

Notes on cleaning and storage

The patented, self-cleaning hinge helps to remove accumulated, dried dirt from the chambers on the underside. This works by opening and closing the yellow cover. In case of heavy soiling, the cable protector can also be cleaned with a steam jet. After cleaning, try to store the cable protector in a horizontal position and remove any excess lubricant.

Defender XXL cable protector in use

Cable protectors provide reliable protection for cables, as they prevent mechanical and weather-related damage to the laid cables. The Defender XXL cable protector is designed for locations where extreme conditions prevail. These include heavy pedestrian and heavy goods traffic as well as cables or lines with larger diameters.

The studded base provides grip on any surface. The non-slip top is particularly suitable for use on construction sites, trade fairs, warehouses or in industry thanks to its easily visible signal colours.

The Defender XXL cable protector is designed for low-voltage cables (up to 500 V, such as communication, control cables and power supply cables) and provides protection against voltage transfer. Pipes for water/waste water, for example, can also be routed through the Defender XXL. Rigid gas pipes should not be laid in cable protectors. If you are using the cable protector in public road traffic, please observe your country's specific road traffic regulations.

Extreme temperatures cause changes in the material. TPU also becomes softer in intense heat and harder at low temperatures, which leads to a loss of elasticity.

Is the Defender XXL approved for road use?

The Defender XXL cable protector is TÜV SÜD-certified, but does not have special road traffic approval. However, such approval is not necessary, as there is no approval for cable protectors, speed bumps and similar devices. The Federal Ministry of Transport and the TÜV Rheinland point out that, in the absence of legal regulations on minimum ground clearance for passenger cars, vehicle owners must first check for themselves whether they can drive over an obstacle or not.

The TÜV general inspection of motor vehicles specifies in leaflet VdTÜV Merkblatt 751 that vehicles with a lowered suspension, occupied by a driver and with a full fuel tank, must be able to pass over an obstacle with a height of 110 mm (width 800 mm) without coming into contact with it.

The Defender XXL cable protector has a height of 87 mm and is therefore within the specified tolerance.
