Defender Midi cable protectors are high-quality products and offer the optimal solution for a wide range of applications for cable and personal protection. This model has a load capacity of 5 tonnes over an area of 20 x 20 cm. To protect all your equipment (cables and wires) from weather-related and mechanical damage, the Defender Midi cable protector has 5 channels (3.4 x 3.6 cm). Weighing approx. 13 kg ( ) and measuring 87.0 cm in length and 54.2 cm in width, the cable protector is extremely compact and easy to handle. The connectors (tongue and groove) ensure easy installation. With a low height of only 5 .2 cm , the Defender Midi is ideal for pedestrians and wheelchair users to cross.

The housing of the cable protector is made of robust thermoplastic polyurethane (hardness range 88 Shore ± 4 A Shore) and is resistant to acid, oil and petrol. The temperature range in which the Defender Midi can be used is -30°C to +60°C. Visually, Defender cable protectors with yellow polyethylene covers are highly visible from a distance . Technically, the cable protector offers high slip resistance at the top and bottom: the ribbed cover provides grip, while the studded underside is non-slip and prevents slipping. Defender cable protectors feature a patented self-cleaning hinge. By opening and closing the cover, dried dirt can be quickly and easily removed from the underside.

Adam Hall Defender Midi wheelchair ramp – matching, barrier-free accessories

The Defender wheelchair ramp guarantees optimal accessibility at your event . The wheelchair ramp is suitable for wheelchair users, people with walking aids (e.g. rollators), trolleys and rolling boards. The set includes the Defender Midi cable protector (with blue cover), which has been specially designed for this set, as a base module, as well as 6 ramp elements and 4 side ramps for barrier-free crossing of the modules.

The Defender wheelchair ramp is equipped with pre-drilled holes so that the set can be securely fastened to the ground. All other features are the same as those of the Defender Midi cable protector. The only exception is that the wheelchair ramp should not be driven over by motor vehicles.

Installation of the Defender Midi cable protector

The Defender cable protectors are installed using the easy-to-use, secure tongue and groove locking system. This joins the elements vertically and prevents them from being separated by lateral forces (e.g. from vehicles). Any number of Defender Midi cable protectors can be connected to each other. For correct use, the cable protector must be placed on a firm, level surface. The yellow cover must face upwards. The next Defender Midi is then inserted with the female part from above onto the male end of the cable protector already in place. This process is repeated until you have reached the length to be bridged. If changes in direction are necessary, we recommend the Defender Midi C element (available on request), which allows a 45° bend. This protects the cables throughout, without leaving any sections exposed.

After laying out the cable protectors, open the yellow cover of each element. The cables can now be laid in the channels of the cable protectors. Once all cables have been stowed in the cable protectors, press the flexible covers closed. The contents are now protected and there is no risk of tripping.

General information on handling cable protectors: Check that all cable protectors form a continuous line and that the individual elements are flush. The cover must snap into place so that the trip protection does not become a trip hazard. Also ensure that each component is at the same height. If there are significant uneven areas between the individual channels, the elements may separate from each other. Full load capacity is only guaranteed if there is a good connection on a flat surface. Cable protectors are not suitable for bridging shafts, trenches or other depressions. In addition, you should not support platforms, crossbars, scaffolding or similar structures on the cable protector. Always drive over cable protectors slowly; do not turn or brake on them. Please note: Cable protectors are cast in a mould during manufacture.

Cleaning and storage instructions

The Defender Midi has been designed with a patented, self-cleaning hinge. Dried-on dirt is largely removed by opening and closing the yellow cover. If heavily soiled, Defender cable protectors can also be cleaned with a steam jet. We recommend always storing the cable protectors in a horizontal position. Excess lubricant should be removed after maintenance.

Defender Midi cable protector in use

Cable protectors provide reliable protection for cables against mechanical and weather-related damage. The Defender Midi is suitable for both road traffic (heavy-duty) and high-traffic pedestrian areas. A non-slip top and a studded underside ensure stability and prevent slipping on any surface. The bright yellow signal colour of the cover is ideal for use at events, trade fairs or in industry.

The Defender Midi models are suitable for low-voltage cables (up to 500V, such as communication, control lines, power supply) and offer protection against voltage transfer. We generally advise against laying rigid gas pipes in cable protectors. Emergency braking and turning on the spot can damage the overrun protection. Always drive over the cable protectors slowly.

Please note: Extreme temperatures cause materials to change: TPU softens in intense heat. At low temperatures, the material becomes harder, which leads to a loss of elasticity.

Is the Defender Midi approved for road use?

The Defender Midi cable protector is TÜV SÜD-certified, but does not have special road traffic approval. However, such approval is not necessary, nor is there any approval for cable protectors, speed bumps, etc. The Federal Ministry of Transport and the TÜV Rheinland point out that, in the absence of legal regulations on minimum ground clearance for passenger cars, vehicle owners must first check for themselves whether they can drive over an obstacle or not.

For example, the TÜV general inspection of motor vehicles specifies in its VdTÜV Merkblatt 751 information sheet that vehicles with a lowered suspension, occupied by a driver and with a full fuel tank, must be able to pass over an obstacle with a height of 110 mm (width 800 mm) without coming into contact with it.

The Defender Midi cable protector has a height of 52 mm and is therefore within the specified tolerance.
