The transparent, thin, and discreetly applied foil backing made of polyester has a thickness of approximately 0.17 mm, offering high conformability and medium adhesive strength of 3.6 N/cm on the side facing the substrate. The covered side of the transparent double-sided tape provides strong adhesive strength of 12 N/cm and can be easily exposed by removing a siliconised paper liner.
Whether for securely fastening signs, trims, and decorative materials or for laying floor coverings on largely insensitive substrates – the double-sided tape with a transparent foil backing impresses with easy handling and two sides of varying adhesion strength. Transparent double-sided tape – foil tape with two sides of varying adhesion strength
The transparent double-sided tape GT 704 is a high-quality self-adhesive tape particularly suited for the temporary bonding of your floor coverings at trade fairs and events, and it offers good repositionability.
The extra-thin laying tape / assembly tape with a foil backing that can be torn by hand (thickness 0.16–0.18 mm) is highly transparent and allows for an almost invisible installation.
The transparent double-sided tape is coated on both sides with different adhesives: It features a lower-adhesion side that adheres to surfaces and can also be removed again, as well as an extra-strong adhesive side that, for example, allows for bonding difficult carpet backings or securing decorative materials. Naturally, the universal double-sided tape is also suitable for versatile use in the home, workshop, or office – it can be used for invisible mounting, laying, fastening, joining, crafting, splicing, and more.
Note: Please note: Due to potential colour changes, the GT 704 double-sided tape should not be bonded to high-quality floor coverings. These include all highly sensitive coverings such as untreated wood (parquet), marble, and natural stone.
Transparent double-sided tape – a tape with varying adhesion strength
The transparent adhesive tape has two sides with varying adhesion strength, it bonds strongly on both sides and features a very high tack (initial adhesion strength).
- The covered side (top), protected by a siliconised paper liner, bonds with an adhesive strength of 12 N/cm and extremely strongly, ensuring secure and permanent adhesion.
- The exposed side (bottom), which adheres to the substrate, has lower adhesion (3.6 N/cm) and offers very good repositionability. This side can be removed from many surfaces.
Tip: The double-sided tape with a highly transparent foil backing ensures a very unobtrusive bond. The tape adheres particularly well to smooth surfaces, conforms to them very well, and offers very good repositionability there.

Did you know? This double-sided tape is also available in our shop as double-sided adhesive cloth tape (GT 703). In this variant, the double-sided tape has a similar adhesive composition (3.1 N/cm on the exposed side and 7 N/cm on the covered side) but differs in the backing. A cloth backing offers the advantage that it can conform particularly well to rough, textured, porous, and deformed surfaces, achieving higher adhesion to these substrates.

Did you know? This adhesive tape is also available as double-sided cloth tape (GT 703) with slightly lower adhesion strength on the covered side. This tape with a cloth backing has similar technical properties but, due to the fabric and a thicker adhesive layer, cannot be removed quite as easily despite similar adhesion strength.
Transparent double-sided tape – versatile use
The universal double-sided tape can be used in a variety of ways and is suitable for bonding to many surfaces. We recommend our customers use the transparent double-sided tape as a temporarily bonding, transparent assembly tape, carpet tape, or laying tape for floor coverings, as well as double-sided tape for transparent fastening of decorations.
The flexible, extra-thin adhesive foil can be easily unrolled and enables a clean bond. The high flexibility of the tape ensures ultra-easy bonding on smooth surfaces. The tape can also be applied to rough and uneven surfaces. Due to the transparent foil and its minimal thickness, the transparent double-sided tape is almost invisible after application – ideal conditions for discreet bonding, joining, mounting, and crafting.
The adhesive tape can be very easily unrolled. It can be torn by hand crosswise but not lengthwise. Due to the foil backing, the double-sided tape can often be removed in one piece. This works better with this tape than, for example, with a comparable tape that has a cloth backing. When removing double-sided tapes, always work slowly and pull the tape off at a 90° angle.
Notes for optimal bonding and removal of double-sided tapes
When bonding the tape, please ensure an ideal application temperature, which for this tape is approximately +10 °C to +30 °C. Press the double-sided tape firmly into place. Only then remove the siliconised paper and press the surfaces to be bonded firmly onto the backing. Whether the double-sided tape can be removed without residue after use depends on various factors, including the type and condition of the substrate, the pressure applied during bonding, the duration of the bond, the temperature, and other external factors affecting the double-sided tape.
To avoid unsightly colour changes on the substrate, do not bond untreated wood, marble, or other natural stone floors. The tape should also not adhere to lacquered surfaces or floors coated with epoxy resin.
For safety, we recommend our customers always perform a test bond on their specific surfaces under real bonding conditions (climate, temperature, mechanical stress, etc.).

Storing double-sided tape – information
Please store the roll of adhesive tape in the box or packaging until use. Maximum 12 months at a temperature of approximately 20 °C and relative humidity. The storage area should be dry and protected from light (no direct sunlight).
