The construction fence and container flag First Aid is printed in green over the entire surface and has a first aid cross pictogram with a downward rescue arrow in white. The first aid flag complies with the current standard for safety signs in accordance with DIN EN ISO 7010 (formerly DIN 4844) and is flame-resistant in accordance with DIN 4102 (B1 certificate).

The replacement flag with first aid marking has a hemstitch on the top edge and left side edge and an eyelet for securing the flag to the pole. The flag fabric 110 g/m² (polyester) with a silk matt, low-reflection surface is very robust and hard-wearing. The material is also weatherproof, UV-stable and temperature-resistant. The pictogram is clearly visible on both sides thanks to 60% print-through.

Flags with rescue symbols are often used at large event venues or in large crowds (e.g. city festivals, trade fairs, etc.). Unlike small first aid signs, these are much easier for visitors and paramedics with stretchers to see from all sides thanks to their size (295 x 100 cm) and their position at a height of almost 6 metres. The first aid equipment, including a first aid kit, plaster dispenser, eye wash facility, etc., is therefore easy for everyone to find.

First aid safety signs: Details and material of the flag

The first aid flag for construction fences and containers is flame retardant in accordance with DIN 4102 (B1 certificate) and complies with fire safety regulations. The flags can therefore also be used at indoor festivals and events.

First aid flag made of flag fabric 110 g/m² (weather-resistant)

The flag fabric 110 g/m² is made of polyester material. The surface of the first aid flag is non-reflective and silk matt. The fabric has the following properties: particularly strong , hard-wearing, non-letting, weather-resistant, UV-stable, wind-permeable (30%), high light transmission and temperature-resistant. In addition , the flag fabric is flame retardant (B1 certification according to DIN 4102), so that nothing stands in the way of its use at indoor events.

The flag is printed in high resolution and the rescue symbol is visible on both sides thanks to approx. 60% print-through (with less intense colours on the reverse).

Further advantages: The container and construction fence flag is washable (max. 30°C) and can be ironed at low temperatures. However, please note that this may cause the flame retardant properties to be lost. You should therefore treat the first aid flag with a suitable flame retardant product before using it again.

Sign for indicating first aid in accordance with DIN EN ISO 7010

In public facilities and at events in particular, escape routes, first aid facilities and emergency exits must be clearly visible and immediately understandable to everyone. In Germany, the affixing, use and graphic representation of safety signs are specified in the regulations of the professional associations. To ensure that safety signs are understandable and uniform throughout Europe, the safety signage standards DIN EN ISO 7010 have been in force since 2012. These are regulated by the ASR. This replaces the previously valid DIN 4844 (BGV A8) in Germany. Products with old markings are grandfathered and may continue to be used.

In assembly areas , "safety signs must be permanently and clearly visible" (VStättVO §6 (6)). In the VstättVOs applicable to your federal state, also under §6, §7, §15 , you will find further information, e.g. on the dimensioning and positioning of escape routes and emergency exits, as well as the marking of safety signs.

Meaning of the first aid sign: What is behind it?

The first aid rescue sign (white cross, E003) serves as a symbol for a facility providing first aid. It indicates:

1. the location of a first aid kit
2. or shows the way to a point of contact for initial medical care.

Are first aid signs mandatory?

The first aid sign is required in every company, public building and government facility – whether to indicate the location of first aid equipment (plasters, disinfectants, etc.) or an emergency telephone.

At festivals, open-air events and other large-scale events, the first aid flag ensures that first aid stations can be found quickly, thus enabling rapid medical care and rescue of injured persons.

Every company and every business is legally obliged to provide a first aid kit. In the case of larger companies, a first aid facility with a doctor or medically trained personnel may also be mandatory.

Is the first aid flag long-lasting?

No, the first aid flag is not long-lasting! However, the container/construction fence flag is ideal for large event sites or in large crowds. Due to its size and placement at a height, the flag is easily visible from a distance and from multiple sides. At festivals or other events, minimum sizes and recognition distances for safety signs must be observed, which are determined by the size of the site or the expected density of people.

In public institutions and businesses, on the other hand, first aid signs made of metal or plastic (e.g. flag signs, emergency exit lamps and much more) are usually used to mark the way to the first aid room. These signs are usually luminescent or have emergency lighting.
