Please note: The flame retardant is not suitable for (real) Christmas trees, Advent wreaths and other decorations made from pine branches due to the essential oils contained in the needles .
Bioretard® fire protection spray in a 1 litre bottle
Strict fire safety requirements apply at events: the materials used must be flame-retardant. With Bioretard® fire protection spray, you can make textiles such as molton, natural fibres and decorative accessories made of cardboard and paper flame-retardant in accordance with DIN 4102. The Bioretard® spray makes it particularly easy and precise to impregnate natural fibres. The fire protection spray is available at ready to use as an aqueous solution in a 1-litre bottle.
Which materials can be treated with Bioretard® flame retardants?
Bioretard® is suitable for fire protection impregnation of the following materials:

Please note: Due to the essential oils contained in the needles, the flame retardant is not suitable for (real) Christmas trees, Advent wreaths and other decorations made from fir/conifer trees ( ).
Fire protection impregnation according to DIN 4102
Materials properly treated with this fire protection spray comply with building material class B1 according to DIN 4102. This means that the treated materials comply with the fire protection requirements of most authorities and insurers.

How do I use Bioretard® flame retardants? – Tips for impregnation
Depending on the nature and condition of the materials to be impregnated, the flame retardant can be applied in different ways. The materials can either be soaked in the flame retardant or sprayed with it. Before applying to large areas, we always recommend testing the material for compatibility.
The materials to be impregnated should be dry and should not be heated with a hair dryer or in a tumble dryer.
- Fabrics that have been sewn or decorated can be sprayed with the flame protection spray. Allow the materials to drip dry and dry at room temperature. Special care should be taken with light-coloured fabrics, as these may be more sensitive to the fire retardants.
- Freshly washed fabrics: Make sure that no fabric softener has been used and that all residues from previous impregnation have been washed out.
- Spray paper, cardboard, decorative items and thin plywood with the flame retardant and leave to dry.
- If you repeat the impregnation, it can only be applied after natural drying (no hair dryer, no tumble dryer).
Information on application quantity
The amount of flame retardant required for impregnation depends on the material and its absorbency. A thin, highly absorbent fabric, for example, requires approx. 100 ml/m², while a thick terry cloth fabric requires considerably more. As a general rule, Bioretard is available from allbuyone as a ready-to-use aqueous solution that can be used for flame retardant treatment in accordance with DIN 4102. According to the manufacturer, the application quantity is 0.2-0.5 l/m².
