The plates with a matt, slightly structured surface are weather-resistant and UV-resistant and are mainly used outdoors. In general, hollow chamber plates can of course also be used indoors, but they are not B1-certified.

: Depending on the region and industry, the hollow chamber plates are also referred to as corrugated plates, which comes from their structure of hollow longitudinal grooves. Derived from the English term "core" (middle piece, core piece, inner part), the plates are also known as Correx.

Printed hollow chamber plates – details on print quality

The hollow-chamber plates with a slightly grooved surface can be easily printed with rich colour reproduction. Only with small motifs is the print not absolutely detailed. The corrugated sheets are printed on one side using 6c digital printing. Double-sided printing is possible on request.

The hollow chamber plates vary in size depending on their thickness, and the print size varies accordingly.

The 3 mm plate has a maximum plate size of 1.40 m x 1.00 m including printing and cutting. The 5 mm plate has a maximum plate size of 1.75 m x 1.25 m.

Customisation: cut precisely to size

hollow chamber plates are cut precisely to size. The minimum size is 20 cm x 20 cm, we will be happy to calculate smaller formats for you on request. The maximum plate size depends on the thickness:

• max. sheet size 3 mm: 140 x 100 cm (incl. printing and cutting)

• max. plate size 5 mm plate: 175 x 125 cm (incl. printing and cutting)

Would you like a contour cut?. A contour cut is not recommended for hollow chamber plates because the chamber structure would not produce clean edges. We recommend using Forex or Alu Dibond for contour-cut plates.

Hollow chamber plate – technical data

Hollow chamber plates are lightweight plates made of polypropylene, consisting of an inner layer of hollow longitudinal cracks covered with a smooth PP layer. The longitudinal groove structure is easily visible and tangible.

What are the best applications for hollow chamber plates?

Hollow chamber plates are popular as inexpensive, lightweight plates for short-term use.

In the events industry, the material is used for the following, among other things:

In addition, hollow chamber plates are very popular for:

Tips for mounting

We recommend the following accessories for attaching the hollow chamber plates:

• Adhesive tape – e.g. double-sided tape or cloth tape / gaffa tape
• Screws
• Staples (only for the 3 mm plates, the 5 mm plates are too strong for this)
• poles/rods: these can be easily inserted through the longitudinal grooves – ideal for securing in soft ground
• sign stands

In general, the signs should be handled with care during assembly. With heavy loads and strong winds, the 3 mm plates in particular can bend along the longitudinal groove, while the 5 mm plates are stronger and more stable.

On request, the hollow chamber plates are available with pre-drilled holes!

Information on transport and storage

The hollow chamber plates are shipped with edge protection, so the plates are better protected against damage.

Signs made of hollow chamber plates are usually disposed of after use. However, there is nothing to prevent them from being reused. When storing them, care should be taken to ensure that the plates are not bent and that the edges are well protected.

What are the alternatives to hollow chamber plates?

In addition to the hollow chamber plates, we have various other plates in our range. We recommend the hollow chamber plates as low-budget plates or for all short-term outdoor applications.

The honeycomb panels are somewhat more stable. These are very similar to the hollow chamber plates, but have an internal honeycomb structure – similar to bee honeycombs – and are therefore considerably more stable than the hollow chamber plates with a longitudinal groove structure.

The Forex plates made of PVC hard foam are even more stable and also heavier, available in different thicknesses.

For long-term use, we offer the highest quality Alu Dibond panels, which are extra stable and robust and the most stable of our panels.
