Rubber mats in two qualities
Black rubber mats made of SBR rubber are mainly used at events as anti-slip mats, floor protection mats or cable mats. You can buy rubber mats from allbuyone in two qualities: a fine mesh rubber mat in a simple standard design and a more robust mat for increased tensile and shear loads: the rubber mat with fabric insert.
Non-slip rubber mats with nubs and fine grooves
The 3 mm thick mats are highly elastic and adaptable in all designs. They have two different sides:
- The top side of the rubber mat is ribbed ( ), with the fine ribs running lengthwise – this creates a non-slip surface even when wet.
- The underside of the fine mesh rubber mat is studded. This structure offers particularly good grip, even on smooth floors.
Rubber mats 3 mm – various designs available
The rubber mats rolls are available in the following versions:
- Cable protection mat 0.50 m x 10 m (without fabric insert), black
- Standard rubber mat 1 m x 10 m (without fabric insert), black
- Rubber mat with reinforced fabric insert 1 m x 10 m, black
- SBR mat with significantly reduced rubber odour 0.5 m x 5 m (without fabric insert), black
The high weight (approx. 340 g/m²) and thickness of 3 mm enable the mats to lie flat on the floor after unrolling. The fine mesh rubber mats can be laid as rubber runners in one piece and can be easily cut to size with a cutter.
Rubber mats made of SBR rubber offer excellent material properties
The rubber mats are made of synthetic rubber, SBR rubber. Unlike rubber mats made of natural rubber, these mats have special mechanical and physical properties. The rubber runners are particularly abrasion-resistant, hard-wearing and water-resistant. The rubber is also resistant to oils and alcohols as well as alkalis and acids. The material has:
- particularly high resistance
- excellent impact resistance
- the best ageing resistance
- excellent abrasion resistance
- very elastic, stretchability up to 200%
- Good electrical insulation properties
- Good weather resistance
- Good tensile strength
- Good heat resistance: the rubber runners retain their material properties in a temperature range from -45°C to +90°C
SBR rubber (styrene-butadiene rubber) is a solid rubber that is used, for example, as a base material for car floor mats, in tyre manufacturing or in the production of all kinds of seals. As a floor covering or workplace mat, it demonstrates particularly high ageing resistance alongside smooth nitrile rubber and building protection mats made from rubber granulate.
Note: Rubber sheets made of SBR rubber are not suitable for use in food areas.
Affordable mats in standard design (without fabric insert)
The inexpensive rubber mats in the standard version consist of 3 mm thick SBR rubber with two different sides: a longitudinally grooved surface (fine grooves) that is particularly slip-resistant. The underside of the rubber mats is provided with studs - this structure offers particularly good adhesion even on smooth floors.
The mats lie flat after unrolling. In addition, the mats can be glued to inclined surfaces (e.g. loading ramps). The rubber mat is highly elastic and adaptable to different shapes. Cutting to size is easy with a cutter. The standard rubber mat is available in rolls of 5 m and 10 m in length, optionally 1 m wide or 0.50 m wide.
We recommend the standard rubber mat as: a workplace mat or anti-slip mat for securing loads, as a clean-off mat, insulating mat or floor protection mat the 50 cm wide mat is particularly suitable as a cable protection mat.
rubber mat with fabric insert
For higher mechanical loads, we recommend the rubber mat with fabric insert. These mats also have two different surfaces: the top side with fine grooves ( ) in the longitudinal direction and the back side with tiny flat studs, comparable to a carpet-like structure.
The special feature: this fine mesh rubber mat is reinforced with a tear-resistant fabric insert, making it resistant to high tensile and shear loads. The studded mat has particularly good adhesion, for example on smooth hall floors. For permanent bonding, e.g. for securing loads in trucks, the flat studs provide an ideal surface for adhesives.
Please note that the rubber runners can be easily torn by hand in the longitudinal direction.
SBR mats with reduced rubber odour
Due to their recycled rubber content, the rubber mats have a strong inherent odour that cannot be completely eliminated even by thorough ventilation.
For indoor use, we therefore have an SBR mat with reduced rubber odour in our range. This rubber mat can be used indoors and outdoors without any problems. The lower odour is due to the significantly lower proportion of recycled rubber.
Rubber mats cutting and customisation
How do you cut rubber mats? The mats can be cut to size using a cutter or carpet knife. Straight cuts are best made using a guide rail. Curved cuts for customised designs (e.g. as floor coverings or workplace mats) are also easy to achieve.
Tip: Bonding rubber mats
To increase slip resistance, the fine mesh rubber mats can also be glued. The underside of the rubber mat is ideal for applying adhesive, so they can be glued over the entire surface. Adhesive tape is often sufficient as an accessory to secure the edges.
How do you clean rubber mats?
Rubber mats are easy to clean and can be easily cleaned of dirt using a steam cleaner. In cases of extreme soiling, they can also be cleaned with mild soapy water. Make sure that the mats are completely dry before storing them. To avoid creases, the rubber runners should be stored lying flat on the roll.
What to do if rubber mats smell?
Unfortunately, the strong, material-dependent rubber smell of rubber sheets is often a problem. The often unpleasant smell can be reduced by ventilation. We therefore advise against laying conventional rubber mats indoors, especially in living areas.
Our low-odour SBR mat, on the other hand, can be used indoors without any problems. Thanks to a lower proportion of recycled rubber, the mat has a significantly reduced odour and is therefore also ideal for indoor use.
Rubber mats rolls – many areas of application
Rubber mats are used in a wide range of applications at events, on construction sites and in industry. Here are a few examples:
Rubber runners as anti-slip mats
Thanks to their ribbed surface and studded underside, rubber mats are non-slip on both sides and are therefore ideal for use as anti-slip floor coverings. The anti-slip mats are mainly used in event supplies to protect stage barriers and safety barriers from slipping and as anti-slip coverings under (technical) equipment.
The anti-slip mat is often laid in trucks or on loading areas to secure loads. Even on damp surfaces, a rubber mat provides good traction. On festival grounds, rubber floor coverings are often used as transport routes.
Fine mesh rubber mats as cable mats
Rubber mats are often used as cable mats instead of cable protectors. The fine mesh rubber mat reliably covers exposed cables, significantly reducing the risk of tripping. The cables are also protected from mechanical damage. The rubber mat is also suitable for longer cable runs, as it can be laid as a whole roll, saving time.
Note: When used as insulating mats, rubber mats do not provide sufficient protection for cables and people against electrostatic discharge. Reliable protection against electrical voltages can only be guaranteed by professional cable protectors!
Rubber mats as floor protection mats
Fine mesh rubber mats are also used as floor protection mats. Venues with sensitive floor coverings are protected by the mats. A rubber floor covering offers protection against mechanical damage and contamination. As a fall protection mat, rubber provides additional protection thanks to its cushioning properties. During production, the hard-wearing floor mat is often used as a clean-off mat (dirt-trapping mat).
Further areas of application in industry and private use
The versatile mats made of SBR rubber can also be used as:
- Stable mats / box mats
- Step mats
- Dirt-trapping mats / clean-off mats
- Anti-slip mats in workshops
- Slip mats for securing loads in cars
