Use of fluorescent light tape

Fluorescent adhesive tapes in narrow widths are frequently used by lighting and sound engineers and on stage. Whether for marking stage positions or cables, mixing desks and other technical equipment, their high visibility in the dark and easy removability do not damage surfaces or technical equipment.

For optimum adhesive performance, there are a few things to bear in mind:

• Do not touch the adhesive surfaces of the tape with your hands.
• Always carry out a test application
• Press the luminous tape firmly for good immediate adhesion
• Observe the optimum application temperature (approx. +18° to +22° C)
• Remove the adhesive tape slowly and evenly at an 80° angle
• Store in a dry place away from light, preferably in the original packaging (max. 12 months).

The self-adhesive fluorescent tape is characterised by excellent material properties. To avoid damage to surfaces, adhesive tapes should never be left in place longer than necessary. Please always carry out a test application beforehand.

Difference between fluorescent adhesive tape and phosphorescent duct tape

Please note: Fluorescent adhesive tape is not the same as phosphorescent adhesive tape. But what exactly are the differences?

Fluorescent adhesive tapes are coated with so-called daylight colours. These luminous pigments are capable of converting UV light into visible light. This makes fluorescent adhesive tapes glow particularly well in cloudy weather and at dusk, i.e. when there is a high proportion of blue in the daylight. In the dark, fluorescent light strips glow with maximum luminosity. This can be achieved by illuminating them with UV light (lamps or spotlights). By the way: such UV light sources are also known commercially as "black light".

Phosphorescent adhesive tapes are characterised by their ability to store incident light in the form of energy and release it gradually. Phosphorus tapes are therefore referred to as luminescent or self-luminous. The effect is often called "glow in the dark".
